starry, starry

i spent the evening painting. dug out the poster paints i got in my first year and attempted copying van gogh's 'stary night'. he painted it in 1889. he saw the halos because he was on this drug called digoxin, a cardiac glycoside, that causes visual disturbances.

he turned his side effect into a masterpiece. ok, so maybe he didn't know his drugs were doing him bad.

i wonder what it would be like to have met him, talked to him and share a cup of coffee with him.

it's no where as good as the real thing, but...i'm so surprised that i managed this! i keep looking at it, thinking, 'no way!'.

this song is based on the painting. i didn't believe my mum when she first told me. i thought it was a beautiful song when i first heard it at 16 (i had this thing for old music then). hearing it again, after getting to know his works just adds to the beauty of how the words and melody mingle and tell a story about a tortured soul.
being 16 felt so long ago.

my hair does this thing where it loses the curls when i've got my mind swamped. i forgot it did that until i looked into the bathroom mirror earlier and saw this rather neat mop of waves.

it's a quarter to three. i should get a cracking at work.
